You’re driving in your car, listening to the radio, relaxing.
You aren’t really listening to what song is playing but as soon as the song changes your ears perk up. You know you’ve heard this song; actually it’s a song you like.
Ah, but what song is it!?
The intro is long and all instrumentals, like the DJ picked it just to string you along. You can tell the intro’s ending, but you still can’t get the first word. It’s on the tip of your tongue; no, it’s past that, it’s in that tiny gap between your teeth and your lips. Oh man, it’s so close.
Finally, the vocals kick in. As a delicate intermingling of melody and energy flows into your ears, your greeted with a rush of emotion unlike any other (or at least unmatched by any similarly distant source).
Only then, after the wave has passed, do you realize, “Uh, this definitely isn’t the song I was thinking of…”
Music’s a roller coaster: better hang on or it’s bound to throw you off.
